Active Groups

Art Appreciation

Ian Millward

Computer User Group

Connie Payne is contact for this: telephone 01506843901
It is held on the 2nd and 4th Thursday afternoons of the month from 2 pm till 4 pm in Strathbrock Partnership Community Education Centre in Broxburn. This group is partly a self help group, with members helping and advising each other, under the guidance of Connie and with help from West Lothian Council. It is a social group as well as learning, and gusts of laughter were heard coming from the last meeting.  All welcome, whether you are a beginner, intermediate or experienced, and if you are willing to become a 'buddy' that is even better. April 12 will be the next meeting

Discussion Group

This friendly group meets on the last Friday of every month in the Uphall Community Centre from 10.00 am until I2.00 noon. It is, as yet, a small but lively group and the subjects discussed are as wide and varied as the members want them to be. Discussed in the past have been euthanasia, books, travel, the role of women in to-day's society, corporal punishment and more. The possibilities for further subjects are endless and they don't always have to too serious! Why not come along and join us. The facilitator for this group is Ann Korimboccus who can be contacted by phoning 01506 434901. This Group will continue to meet throughout the summer.

French Conversation

This meets every week, on a Wednesday, for one and a half hours - 10-00 until 11-30, is well subscribed, and may even have to split into more than one group. There is a very well versed element, and others who only want to learn to speak the language. So that would make two good groups. They take it in turns to meet in each others homes.
Peter Cunningham is the Facilitator for this. He lives at Murieston in Livingston, but other members come from other parts of West Lothian, so you would be at a different place each week.
For more information please contact Peter, telephone 01506 439936

Music Appreciation

Recently started, this is a magical t group, much enjoyed by all who t attend. There are quite a number of members and I am sure that will grow very rapidly. It is held at Uphall Community Centre in their music room.
The Facilitator and leader of this, is the very knowledgeable Harry Payne, contact him for further details and dates of meetings.
Tel. 01506 843901

Painting For Pleasure

ARE YOU ALREADY A BUDDING ARTIST, OR DO YOU HAVE A DESIRE TO BECOME ONE? Join the painting group, it meets on 2nd and 4th Tuesday each month at Uphall Community Center. Bring your own materials. This is mainly a workshop, working at your own pace, in your own world of peace and quiet.
However, everyone who attends is willing to help and advise newcomers, or those who just want a little encouragement. They are a very friendly crowd - as are all our members - you will really enjoy it, painting is very fulfilling and self-satisfying. Contact for more details: Margo Aitken telephone 01506 655547.

Writing

This group almost started, a date and place was arranged but had to be cancelled at the last minute. However, there are not really sufficient members, but if it is something that interests you the facilitator is Kathleen (as above)
That's it, that's all the group news, but contact Kathleen meantime if you need any information-preferably by email as she is never available except after midnight!!
